The recent “big data” shift in biomedical science and clinical informatics has necessitated the emergence of new disciplines in quantitative data science during the precision medicine era. An integrative approach from multidisciplinary areas has become the next step toward addressing essential biological and clinical problems for personalized treatment. Understanding the dynamics of biological systems through the lens of genomics is just one example of such an interdisciplinary approach.
